Celebrating the wonders of wool and the Canadians who grow and transform it

#ChooseWool

There’s no other fibre like it in the world. While wool is soft, warm, strong, and technically versatile, it’s also naturally beautiful. A natural fibre, it is also biodegradable and safe to people and the environment. The benefits of wool extend from durable homewares to high-performance activewear to luxurious accessories and more.

As a part of the global network, the Campaign for Wool in Canada is a non-profit organization dedicated to public education and promotion of wool as a natural fibre. Through proactive media outreach, events and programming, the Campaign works to raise awareness of the benefits of wool, the challenges facing producers, and opportunities for development.

Celebrating Canadian wool

The Canadian Wool Council, as official implementing partner for the Campaign for Wool, works with partners along the entire value chain with the goal of reviving the Canadian wool industry. Our mission is driven by three main goals:

  • Rebranding and revaluing Canadian wool

  • Advocating for the entire Canadian wool value chain

  • Giving Canadian wool a voice on the international stage

OUR PATRON: KING CHARLES III

The Campaign for Wool was launched in Canada by its Patron: The former Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall in Pictou, Nova Scotia during their 2014 May Royal Tour.

The Campaign is His Majesty’s global endeavour to raise awareness of the unique, natural and sustainable benefits of wool, and currently runs across the world in 13 different countries.

We are a platform for engagement and education; showing Canadians the benefits of wool as a fibre as well as the importance of supporting their domestic wool industry.

We bring together major fashion designers, woolgrowers, retailers, manufacturers, artisans and interior designers to celebrate wool’s endless myriad of uses – from luxurious fashion to home insulation.

Every October, we celebrate Canadian Wool Month with numerous activations and partnerships across the country. This year, we are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Campaign for Wool launch in Canada. Stay tuned for some exciting announcements later in the year!

The Canadian Coronation Blanket

Honouring the Coronation of our Patron, HM King Charles III, this blanket is made using the official Coronation design created by the Government of Canada.

The motif features the maple leaf and maple keys alongside the floral emblems of every province and territory. Only 100 of these special pieces were produced.

A limited quantity is still available to purchase through our trading partner, Sykes & Ainley Fine Woollens.

All profits will support the work of The Campaign for Wool in Canada and it’s parent organization The Canadian Wool Council.
