Support the Future of Canadian Wool: A Legacy Project Honouring the Visit of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh
The Campaign for Wool in Canada and its parent organization, the Canadian Wool Council, are honoured to welcome His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh to Canada to witness and celebrate the growing movement around Canadian wool—and the Canadians who transform it.
As a legacy of this historic visit, we are seeking financial contributions to establish a vocational training programme in sheep shearing—a critical, skilled trade that is a cornerstone of Canada’s wool value chain, youth employment, and rural economy.
Your donation will help build a sustainable future for Canadian wool by supporting training, employment, and education opportunities in this vital and undervalued sector.
Thank you for being part of this legacy.
This visit also coincides with the 150th anniversary of the Prince Edward Island Regiment, of which HRH serves as Colonel-in-Chief.
To mark this milestone—and to commemorate the deeply woven cultural, historical, and economic ties between Canada and the United Kingdom through wool, one of our oldest shared industries—the Canadian Wool Council, in partnership with MacAusland’s Woollen Mills, has produced an exclusive 100% Canadian wool blanket for every member of the Regiment.
This special gift was made possible thanks to the generous support of Janice and Earle O’Born.
About The Campaign for Wool in Canada
The Campaign for Wool was launched in Canada by Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla (when TRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall) in Pictou, Nova Scotia during their 2014 May Royal Tour. The Campaign is The King’s global endeavour to raise awareness of the unique, natural, and sustainable benefits of wool, and currently runs across the world in 13 different countries.
The Campaign is a platform for engagement and education; showing Canadians the benefits of wool as a fibre as well as the importance of supporting their domestic wool industry with an annual program of activations and media partnerships in the fields of fashion, interior design, and fine art, centered around Canadian Wool Month (October).
