The Campaign for Wool in Canada turns 10!

The Campaign for Wool in Canada has turned 10!

On May 19th, 2014, the former Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, now Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla, launched The Campaign for Wool in Canada on a windy pier in Pictou, Nova Scotia, during their May Royal Tour. The Campaign is His Majesty’s global endeavour to raise awareness of the unique, natural and sustainable benefits of wool, and now runs across the world in 13 different countries.

Our core mission has always been engagement and education: showing Canadians the benefits of wool as a fibre as well as the importance of supporting their domestic wool industry. Ten years later, we have not only championed this goal but exceeded even our own expectations - from creating the industry’s first strategic plan to developing new value-added products in Canadian wool. From securing Canada’s seat at the global table, to establishing countless industry partnerships in fashion, interiors, and fine arts.

Below you can see the photos from The Campaign’s inauguration day, featuring Nova Scotian artisans and Gillian Crawford of Lismore Farm, accompanied by her son, who brought some of their sheep to the event.

To celebrate the anniversary, we hosted a special episode for the Spinning Yarns Speaker Series event with Gillian and our former colleague Chalo Hancock, who actively participated in the preparation of the Campaign’s launch in Canada. You can watch the recording of the even on our Youtube channel.

We thank all our supporters, partners, and donors for following our journey, supporting our work in advocating for Canadian wool and the Canadians who transform it.
