Tory has focused her career on marketing in the interior textiles industry: currently based in London at bespoke furniture manufacturer Ben Whistler, she has previously worked for leading brands such as Colefax and Fowler, GP & J Baker and Mulberry Home, both in the UK and US. She has been a member of the Worshipful Company of Woolmen since 2019, becoming a Court Assistant in 2021: the Woolmen is the only livery/guild promoting the value of a single fibre, with charitable support for sheep, wool and industry innovation. 

Tory is originally from Argyll, Scotland and comes from a sheep farming background; she is a graduate of Edinburgh University and a life member of the Royal Highland Show (where she has previously given prizes for the Golden Shears on behalf of the Woolmen), as well as a member of the Royal Agricultural Society of The Commonwealth and The Farmers Club, London.
